Lyric Quiz Friday, Number 409 Friday, Jan 28 2011

Go Packers?  Come on, people, the Steelers JUST WON.  Give the Midwestern boys a chance. It’s a healthy way  to screw with Favre, after all.  But that’s not until next weekend.  THIS weekend, enjoy the waning days of January.  Cheers.

Lyric Quiz Friday, Number 408 Friday, Jan 21 2011

Here in Chicago, there is a wind chill of negative 30.  No relevance to the theme, just eliciting sympathy. On the plus side, SCTV, BYOB, and Lake Michigan!  Go bears?

The theme this week is artists beginning with the letter “A.” Bands starting with A, solo artists with their surname beginning with “A.”  So no Annie Lennox or Alanis.  Stay warm, everybody.

Lyric Quiz Friday – Number 406, The New Year Edition Friday, Jan 7 2011

I feel as though 2011 is one of those non-existent years.  Maybe not for people born or wed this year, but otherwise speaking, I don’t know that it will have its own identity.  It is technically the beginning of a decade we don’t know how to classify collectively, it may or may not be the penultimate year of the planet, and it will mark the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 (not to mention the dissolution of 98 Degrees).

So what?  Exactly.  Let the good times roll, because no one will remember it otherwise.  And this irrelevant buildup is all to say … welcome to a lyric quiz about years.  Songs about specific years, songs about the passing of the years, songs with “year” in the title, and not one song that addresses 2011.

3. “And we’re told this is the golden age. And gold is the reason for the wars we wage.” (early 80s) (more…)
